CIVIL / STRUCTURAL ENGINEER – INTERNATIONAL

We are working with one of our International Petrochemical Clients, they are headquartered in Houston, Texas.

 

OVERVIEW

Our client is seeking a Civil / Structural Engineer to support the development of Detail Design, Procurement, Construction, and Startup phases of the Ras Laffan Petrochemicals Project.  The Project includes an Ethylene Unit, Polyethylene Units, Buildings, Product Bagging, Port infrastructure, and associated utilities.  This position will be located long term in either Asia or Europe (~18 Months), and then mobilizing to Qatar through the completion of the project. The total duration for this assignment is expected to be 46 months.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in detailed design, procurement, and support the project team during Construction and Startup phases of the project.
  • Provide design input and recommendations considering capital costs, safety, environmental, operability, maintainability, and reliability.
  • Manage EPC Contractor through review and/or approval of key engineering documents such as:
    • Overall plot plan
    • 3-D model
    • Equipment design and documentation such as:
    • Geotechnical Reports
    • Foundation Design
    • Drainage systems
    • Roads, barriers, and road crossings
    • Underground services including service trenches for piping and cables
    • Building Designs
    • Structural Design including Fireproofing
  • Review and or approve plans associated with engineering such as:
    • Permits / Regulatory Compliance Plan
    • Sewer and Wastewater Treatment Systems
    • Materials Management Plan
    • Safety Process Plan
    • Quality Process / Inspection Plan
    • Cost /Schedule Control Plan
    • Construction Plan
    • Procurement Plan
    • Subcontracting Plan
    • Civil/Structural engineering and design drawings
  • Participate in constructability value improvement reviews
  • Monitor contractor/vendor deliverables and progress tracking
  • Advise project management of developments that could affect safety, quality, cost, or schedule.
  • Participate in the Company review of Construction Information Request and Change Order Requests.
  • Champion behavioral safety programs, process safety programs, and diversity & inclusion initiatives.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience leading/working on large/mega EPC projects.
  • Previous major capital project experience and/or working with an EPC contractor
  • Strong commitment to personnel and employee safety
  • Knowledge of Industry Standards required
  • Capable of managing multiple assignments
  • Excellent communication skills, teamwork, leadership, and customer focus
