FIXED EQUIPMENT & HEAT TRANSFER ENGINEER – INTERNATIONAL

We are working with one of our International Petrochemical Clients, they are headquartered in Houston, Texas.

 

OVERVIEW

Our client is seeking a Fixed Equipment & Heat Transfer Engineer to support the development of Detail Design, Procurement, Construction, and Startup phases of the Ras Laffan Petrochemicals Project.  The Project includes an Ethylene Unit, Polyethylene Units, Buildings, Product Bagging, Port infrastructure, and associated utilities.  This position will be located long term in either Asia or Europe (~18 Months), and then mobilizing to Qatar through the completion of the project. The total duration for this assignment is expected to be 46 months.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in detailed design, procurement and support the project team during Construction and Startup phases of the project.
  • Provide design input and recommendations considering capital costs, safety, environmental, operability, maintainability, and reliability.
    • Manage EPC Contractor through review and/or approval of key engineering documents such as:
    • Overall plot plan
    • 3-D model
    • Equipment design and documentation as required.
      • Review and approve Vendor/Contractor vessel calculations
      • Review and approve heat exchanger design and sizing
      • Review and approve Contractor piping standards, piping drawings, and stress calculations
      • Review and validate Data Sheets and Material Requisitions
      • Review Technical Bid Evaluations
  • Review and or approve plans associated with engineering such as:
    • Permits / Regulatory Compliance Plan
    • Inspection Plan
    • Materials Management Plan
    • Safety Process Plan
    • Quality Process / Inspection Plan
    • Cost / Schedule Control Plan
    • Construction Plan
    • Procurement Plan
    • Subcontracting Plan
    • Fixed / Static Equipment engineering and design drawings
    • Engineered equipment packages
  • Participate in constructability value improvement reviews
  • Resolve equipment queries during field installation, pre-commissioning and commissioning of the equipment and packages.
  • Ensure timely, high-quality contractor, subcontractor, and vendor deliverables are produced.
  • Advise project management of developments that could affect safety, quality, cost, or schedule.
  • Participate in the Company review of Management of Changes (MOC), PHA Action Requests, Construction Information Request, and Change Order Requests.
  • Confirm third party design interfaces.
  • Champion behavioral safety programs, process safety programs, and diversity & inclusion initiatives.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience leading/working on large/mega EPC project.
  • Previous major capital project experience and/or working with an EPC contractor
  • Strong commitment to personnel and employee safety
  • Knowledge of Industry Standards required
  • Capable of managing multiple assignments
  • Excellent communication skills, teamwork, leadership, and customer focus
