Electrical Specialist - Early Works / Offsites Ras Laffan  Petrochemical Project (RLPP)

OVERVIEW

Seeking an Electrical Specialist to supporting the development of Detail Design, Procurement, Construction, and Startup phases of mega project with a focus on 33kV, 132kV power feed and support of offsite areas. This position will be based in the State of Qatar to support Early Works and Offsites through completion of the project, with the possibility of spending some time at Engineering Office at an international location. The duration for this assignment is expected to be +46 months.

 

CORE EXPERTISE & SKILLS

  • Ensures design meets local specification requirements
  • Assists in coordination and development of project specifications
  • Ensures technical competency of designs per all required codes and standards thru team reviews, approvals, and assurances
  • Assists in the development of load lists and electrical one-lines, cable routing, layout drawings
  • Monitors engineering contractor performance against the project’s execution plan, specifically design, procurement, constructability, and material management objectives
  • Coordinates with subject matter experts to ensure incorporation of site requirements
  • Reviews and/or develops recommended spare parts for all electrical equipment
  • Coordinates resolution of technical issues with Contractor and Company construction personnel
  • Monitors the progress of the substation/MCC supplier, including witnessing and Acceptance of large motor and equipment tests
  • Responds to contractor technical questions related to interpretation of “owner requirements,” design philosophy, system sketches and others
  • Ensures all routings and road crossings in corridors are installed per approved designs
  • Performs inspection and review of the facility during construction to confirm compliance with Project and Contractor specifications including managing punch list and tracking closure for final acceptance from construction contractor for electrical installations
  • Coordinates final check out and testing of the electrical systems in preparation for commissioning
  • Reviews Management of Change requests and documentation
  • Assists with the development of task and work lists for Preventive Maintenance (PM’s) work orders and input into SAP
  • Ensures installed electrical equipment from construction to turnover to plant is preserved, can be maintained and functions properly

 

GENERAL

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a minimum of 10 years' experience in a chemical manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of electrical Industry standards including NFPA, API, IEC, and IEEE
  • High Voltage 132 KV System Experience – GIS, Cable, Corridor & Road Crossings
  • Previous project experience with electrical equipment including design/factory interface and acceptance/installation, commissioning, training, and start-up
  • Work Experience in Qatar (Kahramaa experience) or Middle East (preferred)
  • Mega Project experience (preferred)
